Inode estimator
Inodes are the number of files and folders; once the limit is reached no new file can be created and no email received, even with free disk. The tool uses no made-up per-platform numbers: it adds up your measured values, adds the Maildir directory overhead with a stated formula and explains how to measure.

This tool runs in your browser and needs JavaScript.
How to use it
- Enter the site files, cache files and stored emails you measured.
- Press the run button. Results are listed separately as definite problems, possible issues, unverifiable and passed; each finding shows what was found, what it means, the fix and the limits of the check.
- Apply the suggested fix and run the tool again to confirm. Use “Copy result” to add the report to a support ticket.
Example
With 18,500 site files and 24,000 stored messages, the tool shows that email accounts for half the inodes and which plan is the smallest fit. The “Example” button in the form fills in a scenario like this and shows the result immediately.
Scope and limits
The calculation runs in your browser; plan inode limits are read from the live plan descriptions on our site.
Your inputs are not added to the address bar or passed to analytics, and result pages are not indexed by search engines.
