Sitemap checker

A sitemap tells search engines which pages to crawl; a faulty file can be partly or wholly ignored. The tool parses the pasted XML without external entity resolution, applies the protocol rules one by one and lists the problem URLs. It downloads no remote files and rejects input containing DOCTYPE or ENTITY for security.

Loading the tool…

This tool runs in your browser and needs JavaScript.

How to use it

  1. Paste your sitemap's XML; optionally enter the expected domain.
  2. Press the run button. Results are listed separately as definite problems, possible issues, unverifiable and passed; each finding shows what was found, what it means, the fix and the limits of the check.
  3. Apply the suggested fix and run the tool again to confirm. Use “Copy result” to add the report to a support ticket.

Example

If a plugin writes an invalid date such as “2026-13-01” into lastmod, the tool lists the affected URLs as a definite problem. The “Example” button in the form fills in a scenario like this and shows the result immediately.

Scope and limits

The XML is parsed in your browser without external entity resolution; input with DOCTYPE/ENTITY is rejected and no remote file is downloaded.

Your inputs are not added to the address bar or passed to analytics, and result pages are not indexed by search engines.
