SERP preview and meta description checker

The title and description in search results decide whether people click. Google limits them by pixel width, not characters, so wide letters are cut sooner. The tool measures the text in your browser, shows the cut part with “…” and checks where your focus keyword sits.

This tool runs in your browser and needs JavaScript.

How to use it

  1. Enter the page title, meta description and URL; optionally a focus keyword.
  2. Press the run button. Results are listed separately as definite problems, possible issues, unverifiable and passed; each finding shows what was found, what it means, the fix and the limits of the check.
  3. Apply the suggested fix and run the tool again to confirm. Use “Copy result” to add the report to a support ticket.

Example

With the brand name at the start of a long title you can see the key word being cut and reorder the title. The “Example” button in the form fills in a scenario like this and shows the result immediately.

Scope and limits

Preview and measurement run in your browser; no search engine is queried.

Your inputs are not added to the address bar or passed to analytics, and result pages are not indexed by search engines.
