DNS record diff

The most common post-migration problem is a record from the old zone that never reached the new provider. The tool reads BIND exports or simple “name type value” lines, queries live DNS for each name and type and shows missing, extra and identical values in a colour-coded table.

Loading the tool…

This tool runs in your browser and needs JavaScript.

How to use it

  1. Pick the comparison type, enter the domain and paste the old zone records.
  2. Press the run button. Results are listed separately as definite problems, possible issues, unverifiable and passed; each finding shows what was found, what it means, the fix and the limits of the check.
  3. Apply the suggested fix and run the tool again to confirm. Use “Copy result” to add the report to a support ticket.

Example

If a DKIM or _dmarc record was not entered in the new zone after a name server change, the tool marks that row in red as missing from live DNS. The “Example” button in the form fills in a scenario like this and shows the result immediately.

Scope and limits

The list ↔ list comparison runs entirely in your browser. In the live comparison only names and types are sent to public resolvers.

Your inputs are not added to the address bar or passed to analytics, and result pages are not indexed by search engines.
