Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") explains what may and may not be done with OrienHost services. It is part of our Terms of Service and applies to every customer, every reseller and every reseller client. Our commitment to privacy protects lawful users; it does not cover abuse of our infrastructure or of other people.

1. Zero-tolerance violations

The following lead to immediate suspension and termination without prior notice and without refund. Where required by law, we report them to the competent authorities.

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM), or any content that sexualises minors, including links to such material.
  • Content that promotes or facilitates terrorism, human trafficking or the exploitation of people.
  • Malware, ransomware, banking trojans, exploit kits and command-and-control servers.
  • Phishing pages, credential harvesting, fake login pages and sites that impersonate banks, payment services or other organisations.
  • Launching or taking part in denial-of-service attacks, botnets, brute-force attacks or unauthorised scanning of other networks.
  • Marketplaces for stolen data, stolen payment cards, counterfeit documents, weapons or illegal drugs.

2. Other prohibited use

  • Fraud, scams and deliberately misleading offers, including fake shops and investment schemes.
  • Publishing other people's private data (doxxing), threats, or content that incites violence against people.
  • Infringing third-party rights where the infringement has been established, for example by a court decision.
  • Running open proxies, VPN endpoints, Tor relays or exit nodes, IRC servers or bots on shared hosting.
  • Any attempt to bypass account limits, gain root access or access other customers' accounts or data.

3. Fair use of shared resources

Hosting accounts share servers. CloudLinux enforces CPU, RAM, I/O, process and inode limits per account. In addition, the following are not allowed on shared and reseller hosting:

  • Cryptocurrency mining or similar compute-heavy workloads.
  • Long-running background processes, daemons or game servers.
  • Using hosting space as a file storage, backup or file-sharing service, or distributing large files that are not part of a website.
  • Torrent trackers or peer-to-peer clients.
  • Cron jobs that run more often than every 5 minutes without a technical need.

If an account affects the performance of the server, we may temporarily limit it and will contact you to find a solution, such as optimisation or a larger plan.

4. Email

  • Unsolicited bulk email (spam) is prohibited, including mail sent to purchased, rented or scraped lists.
  • Newsletters must only go to recipients who agreed to receive them and must include a working unsubscribe link.
  • Each plan has an hourly sending limit. Attempts to get around it are not allowed.
  • If activity in your account causes one of our IP addresses or domains to be listed on Spamhaus or another blocklist, outgoing mail from the account may be stopped immediately until the cause is fixed.

5. Security of your account

  • Keep applications, plugins and themes up to date and use strong, unique passwords.
  • A compromised account may be suspended to protect other customers until it has been cleaned.

6. Resellers

Resellers must apply this AUP, or stricter rules, to their own clients and must act on abuse reports concerning those clients. A reseller is responsible for violations committed by its clients.

7. Reporting abuse

Send abuse reports to [email protected]. Please include the exact URL or IP address, the date and time, evidence such as log excerpts or email headers, and a description of the problem. Anonymous reports are accepted.

8. How we handle reports

  • Every report is reviewed by a person. We do not act on automated notices alone.
  • For zero-tolerance categories we act immediately.
  • For other reports, we forward the report to the customer and set a deadline to respond or fix the issue. If there is no response or the issue is not fixed, the affected content or service may be suspended.
  • Repeated violations may lead to termination of the account.
  • We only disclose customer data to third parties where we are legally required to. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

9. Changes

We may update this AUP. The current version is always published on this page with its effective date.
